Secret Santa 2009!

RUSSIA & LITHUANIA SECRET SANTA

RULES AND FAQ

What is a Secret Santa?
Basically, you create a fan work and in return you get a fan work. Simple, yes? When you participate, you make a list of prompts you would like to see completed, and another community member will receive those prompts and pick one to fill for you. Likewise, you'll receive a list of prompts to choose from for another member. The person you are filling for will not know who you are, and you will not know who is filling yours until it's time to submit the finished products--this is what makes you a 'secret' Santa. :)

How do I join?
Once you've finished reading the guidelines, fill in the form below in a comment. (Comments will be screened.) Once sign ups have ended, you will receive an email with your assignment.

What should be in my work?
This is a Rus/Liet exchange, thus all fan works should focus on Russia, Lithuania, the pairing or some aspect of it. While other characters are certainly allowed, this is not a general Hetalia exchange so try to keep other pairings from becoming the main focus of the fan work.

For fiction, there is a minimum of 800 words in length. You can always write more to your heart's content, but we ask that you please at least try to meet the 800 word requirement. However, an exception to this rule would be if you want to fill more than one of the prompts. As long as the combined total of the prompts you fill equals at least 800 words, then you can break it down however you'd like. (Ex: 400 words for one prompt you like and 400 for the other)

For art, any medium is welcome (digital, paint, marker, etc) but we do ask that you do more than just a sketch. No matter what medium you decide to use, please keep it clean enough to be clear as to what it is. Basically, no rough/messy sketches that you made last minute just to get it over with. Comics are welcome, just make sure writing is legible! (I say this because I know how hard handwriting can be to read--mine is terrible.)

What can I ask for/what kind of prompts should I give?
You can ask for whatever you want (It is going to be your gift after all!) but it's best to keep prompts as specific as possible, while still leaving a reasonable amount of interpretation and creativity for the person filling it. The prompts may be kept general, such as, "Lithuania decides to bake cookies for Russia" or could be something more specific such, such as, "Russia feeling lonely on Christmas Eve visits Lithuania who kindly takes him in. Mentions of all the Baltics and/or Russia's sisters would be nice." An example of a bad prompt would be something like "I want Rus/Liet and maybe another character."

What if I need to drop out?
Please, please let us know as early as possible if you can't finish in time so that we can arrange someone to fill in for you. Do not drop out unless you absolutely have no way of finishing. We'd appreciate it if you only sign up if you know you'll be able to complete your assignment. We understand that things can happen suddenly but try to let us know before it's too late. We want everyone to receive a gift, after all!

How do I post?
A few days before the deadline for submission, we will post a format you should follow for posting.
